Tapas in Toledo

Tapas (bar snacks) are a real part of Spanish culture and very popular in the city. The Tapas bars (Tascas) can become very busy and have great atmosphere.

The usual way to eat Tapas is to have one or two in a ‘tasca’ with a drink and then move onto another and so on. This is what is called ‘Tapeo’ or ‘ir de tapas’ to go for tapas.

Some popular Tapas found throughout the city include: Tortilla (traditional Spanish omelette with potato, garlic and sometimes peppers), Pollo Asado (chicken pieces grilled with garlic), Ciervo (grilled venison), Chorizo a la Sidra (pork sausage in cider) and Manchego cheese.

Where to buy Marzipan (Mazapán)

Toledo is the marzipan capital of Spain.  The nuns of the convent of Jesus y Maria have been making marzipan here for generations. Spanish marzipan is shaped into balls, ovals, or little cups filled with apricot jam and our personal favourite, coated in pine nuts and gently roasted, delicious.

We recommend that you try Toledo Marzipan.
