La Mancha is a highly agriculturally oriented wine producing area. Wine making has been an essential part of life here for centuries; it is referred to as the largest vineyard on Earth.
La Mancha’s vast vineyards make up an astonishing 50% of Spain’s wine growing capacity.
The red varieties produced in the region include cencible, garnacha tintorena, tempranillo, syrah, merlot and bobal, among others. The most common grape, however, is the white Airén grape.
There are an impressive nine Denominations of Origin in Castilla-La Mancha: Almansa, La Mancha, Manchuela, Méntrida, Mondéjar, Ribera del Júcar, Uclés, Valdepeñas and Jumilla.

TASTES OF CASTILLA-LA-MANCHA.
Experience some of the typical tastes of Castilla La Mancha visiting a cheese factory, ‘La Merendera’ and a traditional olive oil factory, ‘Capilla del Fraile’ (www.capilladelfraile.com). Included is a tour around the town of Santa Maria de Melque to visit a “Mozarabic” church from the 9th century, one of the key monuments in the province of Toledo.

MOLINOS DE DON QUIJOTE.
The landscape surrounding Ciudad Real dotted with windmills was the inspiration of literatures most famous knight, ‘Don Quixote’. It is also one of Spain’s protected natural reserves where you can find the ‘Tablas de Daimiel National Park’ and ‘Lagunas de Ruidera Nature Park’.

MESA DE OCAÑA
Mesa de Ocaña has a rich cultural and architectural heritage and its many archaeological treasures document the various cultures that settled the area throughout the centuries.
Mesa de Ocaña is a part of the Denominación de Origen La Mancha and its wineries enjoy the same international acclaim as those of Mancha Alta. The most developed winemaking municipalities include; Villamuelas, Ocaña, Yepes, Villarrubia de Santiago, Santa Cruz de la Zarza, and Noblejas.
